For the simple and intermediate spectrophotometers, Cary 50 and Cary 3500; if you have used an absorption spectrometer before, or have a supervising experienced colleague, you are welcome to apply for licence to the Cary in LIMS. If you need help with how to use the software, you are welcome to ask Jessica or Hanna for help. Please write in your application who is mentoring you and/or if you are experienced with absorption spectroscopy. To have your application approved, write in the application, with your own words, a sentence or two about the user rules for the spectrophotometer.
User rules for the bookable Cary 50 and Cary 3500: • Never touch the instrument nor the instrument computer when it is booked by someone else • Always log usage in the physical logbook placed by the instrument • Inform Jessica or Hanna about any issues with the instrument, on the same day as you notice them • Turn off the spectrometer when you are done Save your data temporary on the computer and download via your USB stick. Information on planned removal of all data will appear at least one week ahead in LIMS. We recommend you tell the software to save your data on prompt, as ASCII files (csv).
When your application is approved in LIMS, you will find the password for the computer on the LIMS page. If you want to maintain your right to use the instrument, do not share this password with unlicenced users. The password will occasionally be updated on LIMS.
